Iconic Fiat Padminis going off the street into my portfolio.

The Premier Padmini taxi has been a symbol of street life in Mumbai for decades. A new law will see old Padminis head to the scrap yard, along with a piece of India’s history. Premier Padmini was manufactured in India from 1970 to 1998 by Premier Automobile Limited under license from Fiat. My visit to Mumbai, India 2011 ended up being very important, serving as a snapshot in time of Mumbai taxis and their drivers. I traveled the city’s streets for three days hopping from one taxi to the next. The scenes were captured with natural light and swiftly choreographed directions to the driver and locals in the background.
I recently went back to my 2011 files and finalized a new set of Mumbai taxi images. The series has a total of 83 images. The series has it’s own website and the images have been featured in various contexts around the world. More Mumbai Taxi images here.
